Meet Ashten Barber
One advisor who actually knows your whole story.
I earned my degree in finance and began my career at Fidelity Investments. From the inside of the traditional system, I saw the same pattern repeat: plans that favored products over people, clients who were handed information but never truly understood, advisors rewarded for volume instead of outcomes.
I didn't want to join a better firm. I wanted to build one. Eclipse is designed to work the way a financial relationship should: planning first, the same advisor every time, and strategy that exists to serve you rather than sell to you.

Every financial decision affects another.
The Eclipse Philosophy
Why I Built Eclipse
The best financial decisions begin with understanding.
Your equity. Your taxes. Your concentration risk. And how each one moves the others.
That's the philosophy behind Eclipse Financial Advisors, built for software engineers whose financial lives have grown as complex as the systems they build.
Why Engineers
The same rigor you bring to your work, brought to your money.
Engineers think in systems, tradeoffs, and second-order effects. So do the best financial decisions. Equity compensation, taxes, concentration risk, and long-term investing are not separate problems to solve one at a time. They are one connected system, and a change in any one of them moves the others.
Most advice treats them as a checklist. Eclipse treats them as a system, because that is how they actually behave, and because that is the only way to make decisions you will still be glad you made ten years from now.
The Team Behind Me
Independent practice. Institutional backing.
You work directly with me. Behind that relationship is Sovran Advisors, the registered investment adviser that provides Eclipse with research, compliance, and institutional-grade infrastructure. It means you get the focus and continuity of a single dedicated advisor, with the resources and oversight of an established firm supporting every recommendation.
My Story
It was never really about the numbers.
My interest in finance started early, watching my mother balance the family checkbook at the kitchen table. It was about stability, intention, and building a life on purpose. That has stayed with me.
Outside of work I'm a wife and a mother to two boys (18 and 13). I understand firsthand the balance between building a meaningful career and being present for the moments that matter most. I value independence, time, and living with intention, and I feel most at home on California's beaches, where everything comes back into alignment.
Our Name, Our Purpose
Some lessons come from textbooks. Mine came from a telescope.
Eclipse draws its name from nights spent stargazing with my father under clear mountain skies. Engineering is his lifelong passion, and the way he saw the world stayed with me: precise, patient, always working out what comes next.
He taught me to trust experts, a lesson that shaped my personal, financial, and professional life. And standing in the cold with him, looking up, he taught me to dream.
Predictable Patterns
The most predictable event in nature.
An eclipse follows a fixed cycle. Astronomers calculate them centuries in advance, down to the minute, because the pattern never changes.
Markets are cyclical too. Expansions, corrections, and recoveries are not anomalies. They are the pattern. Neither an eclipse nor a market cycle can be stopped, but both can be anticipated, and a plan built around the pattern is what turns an event that catches people off guard into one you already accounted for.
My father taught me to dream.
My mother taught me to plan.
My mother taught me to plan.
Let's talk about what you're building.
